Dr. Angel Vales currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Technology at Austin ISD. With over 15 years of experience in public education, Dr. Vales has served in two of the biggest school districts in Texas, Dallas and Austin, in a variety of roles and departments including Teaching and Learning, Student Services, and Operations.

In his current role, Dr. Vales oversees 9 departments within the Information Technology division including enterprise systems, technology operations, and a cross-departmental initiative to ensure systemic data quality, in alignment with PEIMS programmatic best practices. Within the last 18 months, and with the vision of Oscar Rodriguez (CTO), Austin ISD launched a new Unified Enrollment system with Salesforce, migrated their Frontline SIS to the cloud, and obtained a 99.6% accuracy for the first payroll cycle of a newly implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with Frontline Education.
